Kelly Dodd never seemed particularly interested in being the calm one in the room. During her time on The Real Housewives of Orange County, she delivered screaming matches, insults, questionable opinions and enough controversy to keep the cast busy for years.

Here are some of her most outrageous moments.

1. The Quiet Woman Fight With Shannon

This is Kelly Dodd at peak Housewives chaos. At The Quiet Woman, Kelly and Shannon Beador got into an increasingly nasty argument, with Kelly repeatedly going after Shannon and making comments about her eating. Shannon eventually lost it and threw a plate.

It was the kind of dinner where the appetizers were apparently just the opening act.

2. The Sex Train Rumor

Season 14 gave us one of the strangest Housewives rumors ever. Vicki Gunvalson began hinting that she knew something about Kelly, eventually revealing a rumor that Kelly had participated in a “train,” a sexual act involving multiple people.

Kelly vehemently denied it and said she had never even had a threesome, let alone participated in a train.

The important part: this was a rumor, not a confirmed event. Kelly denied it, and the women spent half the season arguing about who had started spreading it.

3. “God’s Way of Thinning the Herd”

During the early days of the COVID pandemic, Kelly made the infamous comment that the virus was “God’s way of thinning the herd.” The backlash was enormous, and Kelly later apologized and said she had expressed herself badly.

Kelly’s Season 11 trip to Ireland was basically one long descent into chaos. At a pub, Kelly got into a vicious confrontation with Heather Dubrow and the other women. Heather eventually accused Kelly of racist behavior, and the argument became so explosive that the women were thrown out of the establishment.

Kelly had somehow managed to turn a trip to Ireland into a group expulsion.

7. The Department Store Fight in Ireland

The Ireland trip somehow got even worse when Kelly’s behavior contributed to another confrontation in a department store. The women were thrown out, and Kelly continued arguing with the cast outside.

Most people go to Ireland for the scenery. Kelly went to get banned from establishments.

8. The Nose Flick Heard Around Orange County

During the Ireland chaos, Kelly flicked Tamra Judge’s nose during an argument. It was such a bizarrely aggressive little gesture that it became one of those quintessential Kelly Dodd moments: a fight has reached maximum insanity and now someone is flicking someone else’s nose.

9. Going After Braunwyn’s Sobriety

During Season 15, Kelly repeatedly questioned Braunwyn Windham-Burke’s sobriety and claimed that she believed Braunwyn’s storyline was contrived. She doubled down on the criticism rather than backing away from it, creating another ugly feud during Kelly’s final season.

10. Blaming Heather Dubrow’s Son for Giving Her COVID

Kelly claimed that Heather Dubrow’s son had given her COVID after a New Year’s Eve gathering. Heather pushed back, and Kelly eventually apologized and acknowledged that she couldn’t actually know where she had contracted the virus.

11. The Vicki Gunvalson Feud

Kelly and Vicki’s friendship deteriorated into one of RHOC’s nastiest feuds. Kelly repeatedly called Vicki out, accused her of lying and eventually reduced her to the now-famous “pig” insult.

13. Getting Fired and Admitting It Was Her Own Fault

After Season 15, Kelly was fired from RHOC. Later, she admitted that she was responsible for her own departure, saying that she had caused Bravo “a lot of grief” and “a lot of trouble.”

And honestly, if Kelly Dodd herself is admitting she was the problem, that’s probably worth putting on the list.

Kelly Dodd may not have been on RHOC for as many seasons as some of the longtime Housewives, but she certainly made them count. Few Housewives could turn a dinner, a vacation, a pandemic, or a perfectly ordinary argument into the kind of chaos Kelly routinely managed to produce.
