Bethenny Frankel and Jason Hoppy are officially married, and it’s finally time for a vacation. After five episodes of wedding planning, work emergencies, dress drama, and enough hired help to run a small hotel, the newlyweds are off to St. Bart’s for their honeymoon.
And Bethenny is determined to enjoy every last minute of it before the baby arrives.
The two settle into vacation mode, enjoying the beach, the sunshine, and some much-needed time together. There’s even some skinny-dipping, because apparently the Skinnygirl brand requires a certain level of commitment to the concept.
Jason is clearly enjoying himself, and Bethenny is showing off her very pregnant belly while trying to squeeze in a little relaxation before life changes forever.
Of course, nothing in Bethenny’s world is ever entirely uncomplicated. The honeymoon gets interrupted by an unexpected visitor: an iguana. Not just an iguana sighting, either. There’s evidence of an iguana having apparently taken up residence in their room, including a little present left behind.
The couple launches into a debate over who is responsible for cleaning up the iguana droppings. Bethenny seems to believe that this is firmly within the hotel’s job description. It’s difficult to disagree. Nobody books a luxury honeymoon expecting to share accommodations with an uninvited reptile.
Meanwhile, Jason offers to wax Bethenny’s belly, which is either a very sweet gesture or a sign that the honeymoon has reached a level of domestic intimacy most couples don’t encounter until several years into marriage.
Jason also gets to enjoy some adventure, including parasailing, while Bethenny is content to stay closer to the beach. The two are clearly having fun, but the conversation keeps circling back to the baby.
And that’s where Bethenny’s anxiety starts creeping in.
The pregnancy is getting closer to its conclusion, and Bethenny is beginning to realize that their carefree life as a couple is about to change dramatically. She gets emotional thinking about how different everything will be once the baby arrives.
Jason tries to reassure her that they’re a team and that the baby will become their priority. It’s a sweet moment, although Bethenny is understandably having trouble imagining exactly what life with a newborn will look like.
They also embark on a food tour, with Bethenny determined to sample as much of the local cuisine as possible. She’s enjoying herself until the food apparently doesn’t agree with her or the baby. Another reminder that pregnancy doesn’t always cooperate with vacation plans.
Back home, there’s still plenty to prepare. Bethenny works on decorating the nursery, developing a vision for the baby’s room that involves stuffed animals, furniture, and the usual assortment of decisions that somehow become major projects.
She and Jason also head for an ultrasound, where they make the decision to keep the baby’s sex a surprise. One last mystery before the biggest change of their lives.
Bethenny even squeezes in an intimate maternity photo shoot, because if there’s one thing this woman knows how to do, it’s turn a life milestone into a production.
The honeymoon eventually comes to an end, and the couple returns to New York to prepare for the baby’s arrival.
Their wedding is behind them, the vacation is over, and parenthood is getting very real.
Bethenny has spent the entire season managing everyone and everything around her. Soon, she’ll be managing something that doesn’t care about her calendar, business meetings, or carefully organized plans.
And that little iguana may have been the easiest houseguest she’ll ever have.
